COLON, Panama – In a series of announcements, Panama’s Arabe Unido revealed the signing of former Panama under-20 star Edson Samms, and that it will travel to Colombia and Costa Rica for preseason training.
The 21-year-old attacker, who most recently played for San Francisco, appeared in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup (2 games, 0 goals) and the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup (3 games, 0 goals). He also scored two goals in the 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship.
For its preseason preparations, the Expreso Azul will conduct a camp from July 2-8, in Medellin, Colombia, where the Rionegro Aguilas and Atletico Nacional will provide opposition in a pair of friendlies.
Arabe Unido will also face host Cartagines in another warm-up match on July 10 in Cartago, Costa Rica.
The Panamanian power will compete in its fifth Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League starting in August. It was drawn into Group D with Don Bosco FC and three-time champion Monterrey.
