PARAMARIBO, Suriname – Despite being unable to find the back of the net, Haiti’s AS Capoise are leaving Suriname content after earning a 0-0 draw against SV Robinhood in the first leg of their 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League draw on Wednesday night.
Speaking with Concacaf.com following the match, AS Capoise team captain and DF Djimy Alexis said that the club can feel optimistic about the effort put forth against the home side.
“The game wasn’t easy. It was a very difficult game for us and we worked hard to get the good result from this game. We did our best to try to win the game, but we were not able. In the end, we are still satisfied with the draw,” said DF Djimy Alexis.
For Alexis it has already been a dream summer after representing Haiti in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
The 21-year-old was the hero for Les Grenadiers, scoring the winning goal in the comeback 2-1 victory over Costa Rica in their group stage finale.
After helping Haiti reach the semifinals of the Gold Cup, there is still plenty of desire to make a similarly deep run with Capoise in the 2019 SCL.
“We know the next game will be a difficult game to win but we are motivated. It is a home game so we will try to do our best because we want to qualify for the next round,” concluded Alexis.
