LA CHORREA, Panama – Alianza of El Salvador is through to the next round of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League following its 1-0 win over San Francisco of Panama in the second leg of their 2019 SCL Preliminary Round series on Thursday night at the Estadio Agustin Sanchez in La Chorrea, Panama.
With the victory, the Cuscatleco club claimed a 6-1 win on aggregate.
In need of a strong start after falling 5-1 in the first leg in San Salvador, San Francisco came firing out of the gates and almost hit pay-dirt in just the 2’, only for Alianza GK Rafael Garcia to make an excellent save.
The Alianza defense then tightened up and kept the hosts at bay for the rest of the half.
Into the second half Alianza began to create more chances and Oscar Ceren 77´put the finishing touch on the series win when he turned in Carlos Portillo’s cross from the left flank for the game’s lone goal.
Alianza will meet Tauro of Panama in the Round of 16.
