SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador– After a 2-0 defeat in last week’s first leg, a fast start will be needed for Aguila of El Salvador in Wednesday night’s 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League Round of 16 second leg against Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador, El Salvador.
The Monstruo Morado large controlled things in the first 90 minutes against its Cuscatleco counterparts and pocketed the 2-0 victory, thanks to first half scores from Johan Venegas and Michael Barrantes.
If not for the heroics of Aguila GK Benji Villalobos, the margin of victory could have been larger, and it now allows the Salvadoran side a chance to pull even the series.
For Aguila, a goal in the first half hour would be just the thing to set in motion a comeback attempt.
The likes of attacking players Javier Lezcano, Andres Quejada and Fernando Castillo will be called on to put pressure on the Saprissa defense and give hope to the home fans in San Salvador.
