FRISCO, Texas -- FC Dallas and visiting Suchitepequez played to a 0-0 draw in the 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League at Toyota Stadium Wednesday night, meaning Group H will not be decided until the final matchday.
The sides finished with 10 players and are now on five points each atop the Group H table.
Dallas lost Aubrey David to a red card two minutes into nine minutes of secomd-half stoppage time, while Amaury Escoto -- Suchitepequez's top scorer in the Guatemalan league with five goals -- was assessed a second yellow card four minutes later.
Both players will be suspended when their teams meet again in Guatemala City on October 20.
Recently retired Guatemala striker Carlos Ruiz, who was given his first start by FC Dallas after he signed with the Major League Soccer club earlier this month, had the host's two best scoring opportunities.
In the 58th minute, Ruiz hit the crossbar from point-blank range and -- in the 90th minute – saw another effort be thwarted by sliding Suchitepequez captain Erwin Morales.
Escoto nearly got the Venados on the scoreboard in the 75th minute, Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez slapped away his 24-yard attempt.
Despite having an advantage in possession and scoring opportunities in the first half, Dallas could not solve goalkeeper Manuel Sosa.
Getterson, working primarily on the left flank, was FCD’s most dangerous player. He shot wide left in the ninth minute and had his close-range shot denied by Sosa in the 34th minute.
