GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala Forge FC of Canada punched its ticket to the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League Round of 16 thanks to a 0-0 draw at Antigua GFC of Guatemala in the second leg of the 2019 SCL Preliminary Round on Thursday night at the Estadio Doroteo Guamuch Flores in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

With Thursday night’s result, Forge FC advances with a 2-1 aggregate win.

It was mostly one-way traffic in the first 45 minutes, with Antigua GFC enjoying the bulk of the chances.

Antigua GFC’s Ricardo Alvarez had the game’s first crack at goal, but barely missed over the crossbar.

Forge FC GK Triston Henry was at his best in making a number of fine saves to keep it scoreless going into halftime.

The pressure kept coming from Antigua GFC in the second half and substitute Anllel Porras came a foot away from breaking the deadlock only to see his shot skip wide.

Antigua GFC’s job then got a lot tougher in the 86’ when Pablo Mingorance was sent off with his second yellow card of the night.

From there the Forge FC defense was able to nail down the result that sets up a Round of 16 clash with Honduran giants and 2017 SCL Champion Olimpia.
