HEREDIA, Costa Rica – The 2018 Scotiabank Concacaf League quarterfinals continue this Wednesday with the first leg between Herediano of Costa Rica and CD Universitario of Panama at the Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero in Heredia, Costa Rica.
Away goals helped Herediano edge Santa Tecla of El Salvador 2-2 on aggregate in the previous round, while CD Universitario easily handled Diriangen of Nicaragua 7-1 on aggregate.
Herediano is no stranger to Concacaf competition having appeared in eight editions of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League and is now looking to return to the SCCL with a title-winning performance in the SCL.
Standing in Herediano’s way is the highest scoring team in the tournament. A year after reaching the quarterfinal round in the SCL while playing under the name Chorrillo, a re-tooled CD Universitario boasts a breathtaking attack that should make for an exciting first leg.
