SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras A goal in the 88’ from substitute Cristian Hernandez earned Guatemalan side Comunicaciones a dramatic 1-1 draw at Marathon of Honduras in the second leg of their 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League Preliminary Round series on Thursday night at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

A wondergoal from Marathon FW Yustin Arboleda had the hosts on the verge of a quarterfinal berth, only for Hernandez to spoil the party for the home fans with his goal, giving Los Cremas a 3-2 victory on aggregate.

Comunicaciones advances to the 2019 SCL Round of 16 where it will face fellow Guatemalan side Guastatoya.

It was an intense affair played amid a downpour, and just when it looked like Los Cremas were going to secure a 0-0 draw, Arboleda had other ideas and scored what could go down as the goal of the tournament.

The Marathon FW received a pass off his chest, flicked it in the air in the same motion before firing in a volley for a 1-0 lead in the 80’.

Comunicaciones never gave up though and Hernandez found the series-winning score by floating in a shot over the head of Marathon GK Denovan Torres and into goal for the dramatic 1-1 equalizer.
