PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – SV Robinhood of Suriname is on its way to the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League Round of 16 after earning a 1-1 draw at Haiti’s AS Capoise in the second leg of their 2019 SCL Preliminary Round Series on Wednesday night at the Stade Sylvia Cator in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
After 110 scoreless minutes between the two sides in the series, the breakthrough finally came in favor of AS Capoise in the 21’.
Ojulesse Valcourt sent a stinging right-footed shot toward goal, which struck the post and then deflected off the hand of SV Robinhood GK Calidel Kohinor and into goal for a 1-0 AS Capoise lead.
Robinhood looked to respond but it was difficult going up against an experienced Capoise back line.
Yet all it took was one chance for the visitors and in the 79’ their hard work paid off as Alan Cirilo Da Costa steered a header into the Capoise net to make it 1-1 in the match and on aggregate, with Robinhood holding the away goal tiebreaker.
The Suriname club would see out the match from there to punch its ticket to the 2019 SCL Round of 16 where it will face Club Atletico Independiente of Panama.
