PORTLAND, Oregon – The Portland Timbers have loaned midfielder Dairon Asprilla to Colombian side Millonarios F.C. through June 30, 2017, it was announced Thursday.
In two seasons with the Timbers, the 24-year-old, made 35 regular-season appearances, netting two goals.
"This year-long loan with a transfer option frees up cap space and gives the club flexibility moving forward," said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for the Timbers.
Prior to joining the Timbers ahead of the 2015 MLS campaign, Asprilla spent three seasons with Colombia’s Alianza Petrolera after joining on loan from Atletico Nacional in 2012.
Portland will open its second-ever Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League campaign on August 3 against visiting Dragon.
