KINGSTON, Jamaica – Motagua is through to the 2018 Scotiabank Concacaf League semifinals following a 2-0 win over Portmore United in their quarterfinal second leg on Thursday night at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
Rubilio Castillo bagged a brace to complete the Honduran side’s 5-2 aggregate victory over the Jamaicans.
The match took a dramatic turn in just the seventh minute of play when Portmore United FW Maalique Foster was sent off with a straight red card for a late challenge.
Playing a man up, Motagua took advantage and Castillo headed for a 1-0 lead in the 31’.
Portmore United had a glimmer of hope at the start of the second half when Motagua DF Henry Figueroa was whistled for a handball in the area, but Ricardo Morris’s penalty attempt slammed off the crossbar.
Chavany Willis was next to be foiled by the woodwork, this time on a right-footed shot that hit the post in the 67’ would be the final chance for the islanders.
Castillo then settled matters with his second of the night in the 90+1’ to round out the scoring.
