TAPACHULA, Mexico – Puebla scored in the first half and captured third place in the 2016 Copa Mesoamericana with a 1-0 win over Guatemalan champion Suchitepequez on Saturday at the Estadio Olimpico de Tapachula.

The Liga MX side’s goal came in the 22nd minute, when Sergio Ceballos poked home from close range after a short, right-sided corner kick generated two initial shots.

Suchitepequez, a 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League participant, will open defense of its title on July 17 against visiting Marquense.

In the Copa Mesoamerican final, Jaguares de Chiapas topped Cafetaleros, 2-1, on goals by Martin Zuñiga (26’) and Javier Orozco (62’).
