MEXICO CITY – Pumas officially announced Friday the signing of Spanish winger/forward Saul Berjon.
The 30-year-old spent the last two seasons with Spanish La Liga side Eibar, where he scored seven goals in 63 league games.
After a successful two-year stint with Las Palmas from 2008-10, Berjon was signed by Barcelona B, netting three goals in 26 outings during the 2010/11 campaign. From there he went on to play with Alcorcon (2011/12, 4 goals in 35 games) and Murcia (2012-14, 12 goals in 76 games), before moving to Eibar.
Berjon is expected to provide an extra attacking option for UNAM, which scored 23 goals in 17 games during the 2016 Liga MX Clausura season; ninth best in the 18-team circuit.
Starting in August, Pumas will compete in its fourth Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League against Group A rivals DirecTV W Connection and Honduras Progreso.
