SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras – An early goal from Armando Polo would prove decisive for Tauro, who drew 1-1 with Honduran side Real Espana in their 2018 Scotiabank CONCACAF League Round of 16 second leg on Thursday night at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras to advance 2-1 on aggregate.
Polo gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute with a fantastic left-footed strike that extended the Panamanians’ advantage on aggregate to 2-0.
Real Espana still had plenty of time, and the belief of the home fans grew when Jose David Colon headed in right before halftime to make it 1-1 in the match and 2-1 on aggregate.
The Catrachos launched wave after wave of attacks in the second half but were denied by a stiff defense from Tauro, who advance to the SCL quarterfinals where it will face Walter Ferretti of Nicaragua.
