ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – AD San Carlos will be looking to overturn a 2-0 deficit on aggregate when they meet Alianza of El Salvador in the second leg of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League quarterfinals on Thursday night at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
For the home side, it is imperative to get their attack going after not finding the back of the net through their first three matches in the competition.
The talent and experience are certainly there in the form of Jairo Arrieta and Alvaro Saborio. The two have a combined 19 goals in Concacaf club tournaments and will need to be on target on Thursday to give San Carlos a chance of a comeback.
For Alianza, all that is required to advance to the semifinals and also lock up a spot in the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League is to either win, draw or lose by just one goal.
The main man for Alianza has been Marvin Monterroza, who has been superb in all phases while running the Alianza midfield, along with FW Raul Penaranda, who has three goals in the tournament.
