Saprissa inks Anderson Leite on loan deal

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – Saprissa announced Thursday that it has acquired midfielder Anderson Leite on loan from Brazilian Serie B side Londrina.

Anderson Leite, a 23-year-old Brazilian scored one goal in 15 games in 2016. He played for Atletico Goianiense a year earlier.

“I’m very happy to be playing with Saprissa,” Anderson Leite said on the club’s website. “I hope to win on the field. I want to do the best for you (the fans.”

The Monstruo Morado, which won its 33rd Costa Rican league title last month, opens the 2017 Invierno on Sunday at San Carlos. It will be without the services of midfielders Ulises Segura and Marvin Angulo, and goalkeeper Danny Carvajal for five games potentially. The trio were called up to Costa Rica for the 2017 Copa Centroamericana, which will be played from January 13-22 in Panama.
