PANAMA CITY, Panama – Three second-half goals powered Arabe Unido past CD FAS 3-1 and into the Scotiabank Concacaf League semifinals for the second straight year on Tuesday night at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City, Panama.
Blas Perez bagged a brace, while first leg hero Faber Gil added a score to earn the Panamanians a 4-1 win on aggregate in their quarterfinal series against the Salvadorans.
FAS was the stronger team in the first half and was rewarded with a goal in the 45’ via a Jorge Moran free kick from 30 yards out that went buzzing in past Arabe Unido GK Miguel Lloyd.
Arabe Unido would respond in the second half thanks to the playmaking of Gil and the lethal finishing of Perez.
First, it was Perez hammering in a Gil cross in the 51’, then Perez notching his second by pouncing on a rebound in the 61’. Gil then got a goal of his own with a solid finish in the 75’ to round out the 3-1 final scoreline.
