LA CHORREA, Panama – CD Universitario is through to the next round of the 2018 Scotiabank
CONCACAF League after a 3-1 victory over Diriangen of Nicaragua in the second leg of their
Round of 16 tie on Tuesday night at the Estadio Agustin Sanchez in La Chorrea, Panama.

 


With the win, the Panamanian side advances to the SCL quarterfinals 7-1 on aggregate.
Oscar Villarreal was once again a thorn in the side of the Diriangen defense. A week after
scoring in Universitario’s 4-0 first leg win, Villarreal struck twice in the first half hour (5’, 30’) with
a pair of left-footed shots.

 


Sergio Moreno then added his name to the scoresheet in the 77 th minute before Erlyng Ruiz
tallied a consolation goal for the Pinoleros in the 86 th minute.

 


CD Universitario will next face either Herediano or Santa Tecla in the quarterfinals.
