PANAMA CITY, Panama–Tauro of Panama will get a chance to climb back from a 2-0 hole in its 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League Round of 16 series with Alianza of El Salvador in Thursday night’s second leg at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City, Panama.
A pair of headers from Raul Penaranda and Ivan Macia powered Alianza to the first leg victory, and the Albos will be seeking their first SCL quarterfinal appearance since 2017 and can reach the final eight with a win, draw or one-goal defeat.
The Cuscatleco club is off to a fantastic start in the fall season, with a 6-1 aggregate win over San Francisco FC of Panama in the 2019 SCL Preliminary Round and a 5W-1D-0L record in El Salvador’s 2019 Apertura.
The first leg proved to be a tough outing for the Tauro attacking force of Jair Catuy, Freddy Gondola and Enrico Small, among others.
However, playing in front of the home fans should provide a boost for a side in search of goals.
