Miami.- The second edition of the Scotiabank Concacaf League will be launched this Tuesday with three games in Panama, El Salvador, and Honduras. The action will continue on Wednesday and on Thursday will end the first leg of the round of 16.
16 teams will seek the glory and the direct ticket for the Concacaf Scotiabank Champions League 2018. Of the 16 clubs, six repeats from the inaugural edition that was won by Olimpia in the final against Santos de Guapiles.
The six teams that return for 2018 are Arabe Unido (El Salvador), Belmopan Bandits (Belize), Walter Ferretti (Nicaragua), Universitario (formerly Chorrillo FC of Panama), Portmore United of Jamaica and Santos de Guapiles of Costa Rica.
The new comers are: FC Motagua, and Real Espana (Honduras) Club Franciscain (Martinique), CS Herediano, Perez Zeledon (Costa Rica), Santa Tecla, CD FAS (El Salvador), Arnett Gardens (Jamaica), Diriangen (Nicaragua) Deportivo Arabe Unido (Panama)
The SCL is played with direct elimination games. The winner advancing to the next round. The round of 16 will be played from July 31 to August 8 to make way for the quarterfinals from August 21 to 30. The semifinals are scheduled for September 18-27 and the final of two games on October 23 and November 1.
