Continuing with our series, we break down the top five matches from the 2018 SCL.

#5: Club Franciscain 1-0 Walter Ferretti

This Round of 16 first leg tie was significant in the fact that an amateur club was competing in the SCL.

Club Franciscain of Martinique earned a place in the 2018 SCL by virtue of winning the 2018 Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield and then defeating Central FC of Trinidad and Tobago 2-1 in the 2018 Concacaf League Playoff.

To even reach the Round of 16 of the 2018 SCL was an accomplishment in itself for Club Franciscain.

The Caribbean club then went through a thorough preparation to make sure its facilities were up to SCL standards in order to host the first leg and the club successfully met all requirements, setting the stage for a historic first leg contest with Walter Ferretti of Nicaragua.

The home side delivered thrills from start to finish.

After several good looks at goal in the first half, Club Francisain would break the deadlock thanks to an incredible solo effort from Martinique international Johnny Marajo, who slalomed past a pair of Walter Ferretti defenders and then fired in a shot at the near post for a 1-0 lead.

The Club Franciscain defense would hold on the rest of the way to secure the clean sheet victory and become the first amateur club to win an SCL match.
