KINGSTON, Jamaica – Waterhouse of Jamaica will be out to defend their home turf when they meet Honduran side Motagua in the first leg of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League quarterfinals on Wednesday night at Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
The Jamaican side earned passage to the final eight of the tournament in dramatic fashion, by defeating 2018 SCL champions Herediano 7-6 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw on aggregate.
The hero of the tie was GK Akeen Chambers, who made seven saves, plus several key stops in the shootout to secure the date with Motagua.
While Chambers is the rock in the back, Andre Fletcher and Colorado Murray are the dangermen in attack, with each scoring in the previous round against Herediano.
Motagua head into Wednesday night’s contest brimming with confidence thanks to six straight wins in Liga Nacional play, plus their 3-2 Round of 16 win over Managua of Nicaragua.
Roberto Moreira and Matias Galvaliz are the offensive stalwarts for the 2018 SCL runners-up and will be looking to flex their scoring muscles to give the Catracho club a healthy result before the second leg.
