After never previously participating in a CONCACAF club competition, Honduras Progreso earned a berth in a second straight one thanks to being the runner-up with the best aggregate record in the 2016/17 Honduran season.
Last year, it played in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, finishing second in Group A with a 2W-1D-1L (4GF, 4GA).
Honduras Progreso’s first win in the Champions League came against eventual group-champion Pumas, 2-1, on September 15, 2016, as Victor Moncada (57’, 90’+1) netted twice in the second half. Moncada (18’) also struck in a 1-0 home win over DirecTV W Connection on September 29, 2017.
Honduras has one league championship to its credit (2015 Apertura).
