The Salvadoran club is a former CONCACAF champion and will look to flex its muscles in the SCL after qualifying as the 2017 Apertura semifinalist with the most accumulated points during the 2017/18 season.
The Tigres are truly one of the most decorated clubs in the history of the CONCACAF region, having claimed the 1979 CONCACAF Champions Cup and 17 domestic titles.
The club amassed an impressive 10 appearances in the CONCACAF Champions Cup before participating in three editions of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (2010/11, 2012/13, 2014/15).
Led by Head Coach Cristian Alvarez, FAS qualified for the 2018 SCL on the strength of their semifinal finish in the 2017 Apertura, with an overall record of 8W-14D-4L, 33GF, 24GC.
While FW Luis Perea provides the punch in attack – the Peruvian scored 15 goals in 20 games during the 2018 Clausura – it is Alvarez’s defense that perhaps most warrants the respect of opponents.
It all starts in goal with Matias Coloca, who was named the best goalkeeper of the 2017 Apertura with just 14 goals conceded in 17 matches.
