Comunicaciones qualify to the SCL Preliminary Round as the Runner-up with the highest number of points in the accumulated season in 2018-19 of Guatemala.
Comunicaciones has 30 domestic league titles. Last title won was the 2014-15 Torneo Clausura.
Comunicaciones returns to the Concacaf Club competitions since the last time they participated in the Scotiabank Concacaf League in 2015-16 in Group D against LA Galaxy, and Central FC of Trinidad and Tobago were they finished last.
Comunicaciones head coach is the Argentine Mauricio Tapia (48 years old). Has worked with the teams of Guatemala Antigua GFC (won three titles), Zacapa and Juventud Retalteca among others.
Comunicaciones, founded in 1949, has one title in Concacaf Champions League (1978) shared with the Defense Force (Trinidad and Tobago) and Universidad de Guadalajara of Mexico.
Comunicaciones played two finals of the Concacaf Champions Cup. In 1962, they lost (0-6) in the global score against CD Guadalajara of México and in 1969 against Cruz Azul (0-1) overall.
In 1991, they were the runner-up of the Concacaf Cup Winners tournament.
Comunicaciones best performance in recent years at Concacaf club tournaments was in the 2009 Champions League when they advanced to the quarterfinals where they fell (2-3) against Pachuca of México.
Agustín Herrera (Comunicaciones) was the top scorer of the 2019 Torneo Clausura (11 goals), although playing with Antigua, another of the Guatemalan teams present at SCL 2019.
Jorge Vargas (Comunicaciones) was one of the team's top scorers in the 2018-19 Season (12 goals in 48 games).
